Juniper Networks Continues to Lead in Key Security Technology Markets

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Infonetics Research Recognizes Juniper Networks as the SSL VPN Product Market Share Leader and a Leader in In-Line Intrusion Detection and Prevention
Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR) today announced that it continues to be the market share leader in the Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network (SSL VPN) market, according to Infonetics Research, Inc.'s recent report titled: "Network Security Appliances and Software Quarterly Worldwide Market Share and Forecasts for 4Q04." According to the report, Juniper Networks garnered 42 percent revenue market share within the SSL VPN product category during the fourth quarter of 2004 and 46 percent revenue market share for the full year. The report forecast the SSL VPN market to reach $554 million by CY08.
"Juniper holds a strong first place position and has been the SSL VPN leader throughout 2004," stated Jeff Wilson, senior analyst at Infonetics Research. "The industry is abuzz with customer demand for SSL VPNs, especially in EMEA and Asia-Pac. Worldwide SSL VPN gateway revenue will grow 99 percent by 4Q05. New SSL VPN product offerings for small-to-medium enterprises, including localization features, are signs that both the technology and the market are maturing. With the most mature and proven product, Juniper is well placed in this burgeoning market."
The same report recognized Juniper Networks as the leader in network-based in-line Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS) unit shipments, with 30 percent market share. Customers continue to recognize the value of Juniper Networks NetScreen Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) products, which, in a single device, provide the ability to detect and prevent application-level attacks in real-time before they reach the intended victims.
