New York State Bar Association Offers Members Dramatic Savings On WordPerfect Office 12
Business Wire, March 16, 2005
ALBANY, N.Y. -- New Agreement With Corel Permits 70,000 New York State Bar Members to Purchase WordPerfect Office 12 at Reduced Prices
The New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), one of the nation's largest lawyer organizations, has signed on to Corel Corporation's new Bar Association licensing program, allowing NYSBA members to purchase licenses of the award-winning WordPerfect(R) Office 12 at substantially reduced prices.
As part of Corel's ongoing effort to equip the legal community with powerful office productivity tools specialized for small law firms and solo law practitioners, this agreement provides WordPerfect Office 12 to eligible NYSBA law offices at the special price of $115 US - a savings of up to 71% less than the suggested retail price (SRP) of Microsoft(R) Office 2003 Standard Full Version. These significant price reductions, combined with Corel's training and support options, enables the small law firms making up the majority of the NYSBA's membership to adopt WordPerfect Office 12 at costs formerly available only to large law firms purchasing WordPerfect Office via volume licensing.
"In New York state today, more than 55% of lawyers work in small law firms or as solo practitioners-yet these small firms are practically ignored by other office suite vendors," said Richard Carriere, general manager for office productivity at Corel. "Corel's new bar association program lets NYSBA members adopt an office productivity solution that's built specifically for small law offices at very competitive prices."
"Corel's new bar association program offers a quality product to our solo and small firm members at prices that would otherwise be unavailable to them for individual purchase, making this program an outstanding member benefit for the Association. WordPerfect Office is used in law offices throughout the state and Corel's program ensures that our members can easily access it," said NYSBA President Kenneth G. Standard of Chappaqua (Epstein, Becker & Green, PC).
Ideal for law offices seeking best-of-breed productivity tools and the ability to interact with clients, colleagues and the courts in various file formats, WordPerfect Office 12 includes easy to use and feature-rich word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and address book applications.
WordPerfect Office 12 offers market-leading compatibility with popular file formats, including PDF, Microsoft Office, HTML and XML, and allows customers to share files created in WordPerfect Office with users of other office productivity tools. Its advanced legal-specific feature set, including its unique-to-WordPerfect Legal Mode, provides one-click access to features such as the Pleading Wizard, Document Review and Compare, Watermarks and Publish-to-EDGAR.
WordPerfect Office 12 also provides each licensed user with Home and Laptop privileges, giving employees licensed to use WordPerfect Office 12 at work the ability to use the same copy nonconcurrently at home or on their laptop. Other options available include product maintenance, multilingual use and comprehensive support and training.
Effective March 15, license purchases of WordPerfect Office 12 by NYSBA members will be facilitated by a special interface on the NYSBA website. License fulfillment will be provided by premium Corel partner and legal technology specialist Softmart. To license WordPerfect Office 12 through this special program, NYSBA members may visit www.nysba.org/memberdiscounts or by calling Softmart toll-free at 1_800_545_1294 or emailing Softmart at Corel@softmart.com.
"WordPerfect Office is well known for its popularity in the legal community. Like Corel, Softmart is committed to meeting the unique needs of smaller law offices, offering value prices on the tools these firms need most," said Ray Gedeon, Vice President of Corporate Marketing for Softmart. "This shared commitment to the legal community makes our partnership with Corel and the NYSBA an excellent fit for bar association members statewide."
