General Physics Corporation to Provide Emergency Response and Crisis Management Services to Pinellas County Florida School District
Business Wire, March 17, 2005
ELKRIDGE, Md. -- Global workplace solutions provider General Physics Corporation (GP), a subsidiary of GP Strategies Corporation (NYSE:GPX), was selected by the School Board of Pinellas County, Florida to provide training and exercise programs to enhance the Emergency Response and Crisis Management Program of Local Educational Agencies. The scope of services includes the assessment of existing materials, the development and delivery of training materials, and the development and delivery of exercise drills that test the emergency and crisis management plans. School administrators, teachers and other school personnel, as well as selected students and parents will participate in the training and exercise programs. These services are similar to those delivered by GP to Brevard County, Florida under the same grant program.
Additionally, GP will conduct safety and security assessments for 40 schools and two administration buildings using GP team members and Pinellas County Schools' Risk Management division. Once these assessments are completed, Pinellas County Schools' Risk Management division will perform assessments for the remaining schools in the county. Pinellas County, Florida School District is the 22nd largest school district in the United States, serving more than 113,000 students.
The County's program supports grant opportunities from the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools Emergency Response and Crisis Management Grant Program, available to Local Educational Agencies (LEAs). GP's efforts assist LEAs to proactively prepare schools and school districts to more effectively respond to both natural and man-made emergencies.
GP's Homeland Security and Emergency Management services are designed to help organizations plan for incidents, respond appropriately, and mitigate the short- and long-term consequences of an emergency.
