Lite-On Technology Designs Genesis' New gm5621 ''Phoenix'' LCD Controller Family into Multiple Monitor Platforms
Business Wire, March 21, 2005
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Highly Integrated Product Line Significantly Reduces Bill of Materials Cost for LCD Monitors
Genesis(R) Microchip Inc. (Nasdaq:GNSS), a world leader in the development of image processing technologies for flat-panel monitors, TVs and other consumer display products, today announced that Lite-On has selected Genesis' gm5621 and gm2621 series for its new XGA and SXGA LCD monitor platforms.
The new series offers industry-leading levels of integration in an LCD monitor controller and features a single chassis solution for all LCD monitor applications. The gm5621 LCD controller series integrates the microcontroller using a serial flash interface for pin count efficiency and includes a number of derivative controllers that enable customers to target all LCD monitor segments (analog or dual, XGA or SXGA) with a single PCB. Its firmware is also compatible with Genesis' previous generation of gm5321 LCD monitor controllers, reducing customer design time and costs. The gm5621 product family also offers new Instant Auto(TM) technology, which provides fast and accurate image alignment for both static and moving images of the VGA input signal and is competitively priced to respond to the high-volume segments of the mainstream LCD monitor controller market.
"With its advanced image-processing technologies, this new family of highly integrated controllers from Genesis enables Lite-On to provide our customers with feature-rich LCD monitor platforms at the lowest cost points," said Andrew Lin, CFO of Lite-On.
"Lite-On has consistently selected Genesis' controller technology for several generations of their LCD monitor products," said Raphael Mehrbians, Genesis Microchip's senior vice president of Product Marketing. "We are very pleased to see this continue with our newest and most highly integrated family of gm5621/gm2621 monitor controllers."
The gm5621 family offers Genesis' patented advanced image processing technologies, an industry-proved integrated ADC/PLL and Ultra-Reliable DVI compliant receiver for both XGA and SXGA display resolutions. In addition, it features an on-chip RSDS and LVDS transmitter, a multicolor proportional font OSD engine and is available in a 128QFP package.
