AEGIS Client Provides 802.1X/WPA Security for Novell Networks; Enables standards-based secure wired and wireless connection policies for network administrators

Business Wire, March 22, 2005

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- Meetinghouse, a leading developer of standards-based secure network access software for wired and wireless local-area networks today announced further interoperability enhancements to the AEGIS Client (Windows XP/2000) to provide 802.1X- and WPA-based security for the Novell NetWare environment. Novell users gain three key benefits from these new improvements:

1) Secure wireless connection to Novell

2) A single sign-on capability that is integrated with the Novell Client

3) A layer of additional 802.1X security when used in purely wired network environments

AEGIS Client implements 802.1X and WPA to provide port access control to the Novell network. Once port access control (authentication) has been granted, Novell normal login (Context- and Tree-based), as well as LDAP Contextless Login, is supported. Contextless Login is used by many large enterprises to ease the burden of dealing with constantly changing networks and user relationships. Meetinghouse's AEGIS Client provides seamless interoperability to the single sign-on login process when enterprise users access the Novell domain.

Novell NetWare support is especially important to the healthcare industry where Novell is often the solution of choice, and helps meet the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). AEGIS Client enables healthcare providers to leverage the benefits of 802.1X security and their Novell networks to meet the HIPPA patient privacy requirements.

"Meetinghouse is committed to providing Layer-2 secure network access solutions for Novell NetWare enterprise customers," said Anthony Delli Colli, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Meetinghouse. "AEGIS Client's 802.1X and WPA support for Novell provides significant new security options for network administrators who manage both wired and wireless networks."
