Serena Dominates Ratings in New Industry Report on Configuration Management Solutions; ChangeMan Solutions Earn Top Ratings from Analyst Firm Ovum

Industry analyst firm Ovum recently reviewed and rated 14 configuration management tools in nine categories for its January 2005 report, Ovum Evaluates: Configuration Management. "The highest rankings are awarded to products with the broadest range of functionality, accompanied by strong flexibility and simplicity of use," wrote Ovum research directors Clive Burrows and Ian Wesley. "Serena's products have consistently scored extremely high across all areas of our tests and continue to do so. ChangeMan Dimensions received top ratings in five categories, and was the only product that scored a nine rating in the configuration management and process management categories. As cited in Ovum's report, "Dimensions is an established product with strong all-round, process-based configuration management capability to manage the development of software projects over a wider range of platforms."

Specifically, the analyst firm commented on the Dimensions product's wide range of configuration specification features, and "strong support for complex lifecycle, and structures of user roles, backed by a good graphical display of individual lifecycles." In addition, Dimensions earned top ratings in the categories of change management, project support and administration.

Ovum's report also awarded ChangeMan ZMF the highest rating among mainframe solutions in all eight applicable categories, including configuration management, change management, process management, build and release support, team support, project support, usability and administration. In addition, Ovum described ChangeMan Professional, the world's most popular team-based development suite, as " ... simple, easy to use, and has had long-term success."
