Allied Telesyn Appoints Vice President of IOC Sales and Operations; IP/Ethernet Leader Focuses on Growing Provider Business

Business Wire, March 22, 2005

BOTHELL, Wash. -- Allied Telesyn, a global provider of end-to-end Ethernet/IP solutions, today announced the appointment of Dean Patterson as Vice President of IOC Sales. Dean will take responsibility for direct sales and operations reporting to Takayoshi Oshima, Chairman and CEO of Allied Telesyn. Dean was most recently employed as Executive Account Director for IOC Western Regional Sales at Advanced Fibre Communications. Dean brings to Allied Telesyn over three decades of network service provider and access manufacturer experience from AFC, SBC/Pacific Bell and Bell Atlantic.

Based in the Bay Area of California, Dean will oversee IOC sales for the IP/Ethernet leader, directing a team of inside and outside account representatives across the U.S. "Dean Patterson is a strategic addition to our organization," said Takayoshi Oshima, Chairman and CEO of Allied Telesyn. "We expect him to play a key role as we grow our business in the IOC customer space."

"Allied Telesyn offers the best end-to-end IP product set available to serve the IOC space," says Dean. "So I'm very excited to be a part of it. My team will be focused on bringing Ethernet/IP solutions to the IOC space that will help them make an easy transition from legacy TDM to next-generation packet technology."

"Allied Telesyn's iMAP is the only true Ethernet Access platform on the market," says Philip Yim, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Product Development for Allied Telesyn, "It supports Fiber, POTS, ADSL/2+, VoIP and any number of emerging applications. It's ideal for carriers that are looking to migrate cost-effectively, or merge existing networks into a single platform. Our residential service gateways provide true end-to-end differentiation for IOCs, versus legacy ATM/TDM solutions. Together, they make a compelling combination. Our challenge now is to get that message out to individual IOC customers. And that's why we've brought Dean to the team."

Prior to joining Allied Telesyn, Dean held various sales, marketing, and engineering positions at Advanced Fibre Communications where he was a Hall of Fame member. Senior positions included Director of Sales Operations and Sales Executive Account Director. The first two decades of Mr. Patterson's career were on the carrier side of the market, with SBC and the former Bell Atlantic where he held engineering, management, and OSP positions. Mr. Patterson graduated from Golden Gate University in San Francisco with a B.S. in Management.
