CDW Coworkers to Join Habitat for Humanity in Thailand for Tsunami Relief Project; 10 CDW Volunteers Plan Two-Week, Company-Paid Work Leave in July
Business Wire, March 24, 2005
VERNON HILLS, Ill. -- CDW Corporation (NASDAQ:CDWC), a leading provider of name-brand technology products and services to business, government and education, today announced that it chosen 10 volunteer coworkers to join a Habitat for Humanity project in Thailand supporting the nonprofit homebuilder's tsunami relief effort.
The 10 CDW coworkers will devote two weeks this summer, from July 9 to 23, repairing and rebuilding houses and other structures along the western coast of Thailand. All expenses incurred for the trip will be paid by CDW, and it will be treated as company time. The trip is part of a larger CDW multi-agency contribution toward the tsunami relief effort that raised more than $300,000 in coworker contributions and donation matches from the company and its board members.

"What is special to us about this project is that it is coworker driven. As with so many aspects of our business, our coworkers make the difference and lead the way," said John A. Edwardson, chairman and chief executive officer, CDW. "We are privileged to maintain a longstanding, active relationship with Habitat for Humanity here in the United States, and we're pleased to extend it overseas in this critically important effort to help those affected by the tsunami to rebuild their lives."
Every CDW coworker who contributed to CDW's tsunami fund drive, regardless of the amount, automatically became eligible for the trip. Upon reaching a challenge goal of $100,000 in coworker contributions, Edwardson selected names in a raffle drawing, with the following ten coworkers accepting the opportunity:

"The volunteerism of CDW coworkers is heartfelt and another example of their commitment to lending a helping hand wherever possible."
On company time CDW coworkers have built three new homes in the last three years for Habitat for Humanity in Waukegan, Ill., near CDW's corporate headquarters. Nearly 500 coworkers participated in each of the projects. CDW grants every coworker one day off per year to perform community service.
