eMagin Showcases Virtual Imaging Solutions at SPIE Defense Security Conference; Featuring OLED-Equipped Products by Quantum3D, Liteye, and Total Fire Group

Business Wire, March 29, 2005

ORLANDO, Fla. -- eMagin Corporation (AMEX: EMA), a leader in virtual imaging technology, is showcasing its displays, subsystems, and recently announced Z800 3D Visor in Booth 638 at the SPIE Security and Defense Conference being held through March 31 in Orlando. Currently used in more than 30 commercial systems, eMagin microdisplays deliver high contrast, flicker-free images in a range of adverse conditions.

"Instant delivery of important digital information in the field requires a quality display that is power efficient and able to withstand the harsh temperature and vibration environments that our customers face. The extra heaters and coolers required for other displays can draw more power and add weight," said Susan Jones, chief marketing and strategy officer, eMagin Corporation.

Proven in security and military systems already in the field, eMagin microdisplays and subsystems can also deliver the immersive graphics needed for embedded simulation and training. The company's recently announced Z800 visor can provide full 360 degree surround stereovision 3D through its state-of-the-art head tracking and eMagin SVGA 3D OLED displays. "It's a great showcase for our technology and its capabilities," said Jones. "And it offers great utility for critical training applications."

The Z800 Visor has been incorporated into Expedition(TM), Quantum3D's wearable, embedded-training platform (http://www.quantum3d.com). Based on Quantum3D's THERMITE(TM) Tactical Visual Computer, and featuring a patent-pending weapon-mounted synthetic environment controller, correlated head/body/weapon motion trackers, and load-bearing vest, Expedition provides an integrated, wireless, open-architecture platform that enables rapid development and deployment of embedded training and mission-rehearsal scenarios for military and first responder applications.

eMagin is also showcasing its microdisplays and subsystems in products from Liteye Systems (www.liteye.com) and Total Fire Group (www.totalfiregroup.com). Based on the company's patented OLED-on-silicon technology, the company's microdisplays and subsystems meet the needs of near-eye applications ranging from night-vision headsets and scopes to mobile command and control communications.

Owing to the inherent benefits of OLED technology, eMagin's SVGA and SVGA 3D microdisplays deliver the resolution, brightness, and speed for a broad range of defense and security applications. Because OLEDs refresh in microseconds rather than milliseconds, eMagin microdisplays deliver images and information virtually flicker free in near-eye applications. With low power requirements and high brightness, they deliver crisp text and clear image data for extended periods regardless of ambient lighting. In addition, they work in a broad range of temperatures, providing information in harsh environments, ranging from extreme cold to high heat.

Since they emit light in all directions, OLED microdisplays accommodate a greater range of pupil movement than traditional LCDs. Coupled with their ability to change full color and high gray scale data at rates measured in microseconds instead of tens of milliseconds - this characteristic makes them ideal for near-eye viewing.

eMagin is supplying microdisplays and display modules for more than 30 products. Among those employing eMagin microdisplays or modules in current or planned systems are DRS, Elbit, 5DT, KEO/Rockwell Collins, Leadtek, Liteye, NA-OR, Nivisys, SaabTech, Sage, Sensics, Thales, Total Fire Group, U.S. Air Force, Vinghog, and VRmagic. The company offers its OLED-on-silicon displays in developer kits, sample quantities, and production quantities. For more information on eMagin and its products, customers can go to www.emagin.com.

About eMagin Corporation

A leader in virtual imaging technology, eMagin integrates high-resolution OLED microdisplays, magnifying optics, and systems technologies to create a virtual image that appears comparable to that of a computer monitor or a large-screen television. With unique technology for producing high-performance small molecule OLED-on-silicon microdisplays and related optical systems, eMagin is the only company to supply these displays in commercial quantities to OEMs. In addition, the company sells integrated modules to military, industrial and medical customers, and has recently announced its first consumer system, the Z800 3D Visor. eMagin's microdisplay operations are co-located with IBM on its campus in East Fishkill, N.Y. Optics and system design facilities are located in Redmond, Wash. For additional information, please visit www.emagin.com and www.3dvisor.com.
