Celebrating the Music and Legacy of the Rolling Stones; Get ''Stoned'' on the AOL Radio Network with Satisfaction Radio
Business Wire, March 3, 2005
NEW YORK -- Extensive Playlist of Classic Cuts, Rarities, B-Sides, Covers and Interviews
Marking the release of The Rolling Stones Singles 1968-1971, the third limited edition box set in the series from ABKCO Records, the AOL(R) Radio Network has launched the new "Satisfaction Radio" station. This exclusive station features an extensive playlist of hundreds of classic Rolling Stones' cuts, new favorites, B-sides and rarities, as well as covers from many diverse artists the band has influenced over their illustrious five-decade career. The station will also feature interview segments with impresario Andrew Loog Oldham, among others. Oldham discusses his experiences working with the band during the formative years of the group that would become known as "The World's Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band."
Beyond highlighting the band's very considerable body of work, Satisfaction Radio programming underscores the fact that the Rolling Stones have provided inspiration for scores of artists from virtually every genre of music. The station features outstanding cover versions of Jagger-Richards-penned songs from a vast range of performers including Otis Redding, Tori Amos, Social Distortion, Marianne Faithfull, Britney Spears, The Pogues, Grand Funk Railroad, U2, The Sundays, Aretha Franklin, Johnny Cash, The Allman Brothers Band, The Ramones, Guns N' Roses, The Who, Linda Ronstadt, Grateful Dead and others.
Having coined the tag line, "Would you let your daughter go out with a Rolling Stone?," Andrew Loog Oldham played a critical role in the band's rise to superstardom in the 1960s. Satisfaction Radio listeners will hear intimate interview segments with him that detail the first time he saw the band perform, the early rivalry with The Beatles, as well as the band's fusion of blues roots with an innovative modern pop sensibility.
Stones' fans can access Satisfaction Radio exclusively at Radio@AOL and Radio@Netscape.
