April 3 - April 6: International Conference on Fundraising Convenes in Baltimore

Business Wire, March 30, 2005

BALTIMORE -- What inspires people to give to nonprofit organizations? How do world disasters such as the tsunami in Southeast Asia impact fundraising? Did agencies in the United States and Canada exceed or fall short of their fundraising goals this past year? What is the most effective fundraising strategy? How does the world economy affect fundraising efforts?

These and other issues about the state of fundraising will be unveiled during the International Conference of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) in Baltimore, Maryland. The results of the AFP Annual State of Fundraising survey will be unveiled on Monday, April 4 at 10AM.

The AFP conference will also feature presentations by Harry Belafonte, Benjamin Soloman Carson Sr., M.D., and Cal Ripken Jr, each of whom is actively involved with philanthropic causes.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents more than 26,000 members in over 170 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs.
