Endeca Voted Best Company At Esther Dyson's PC Forum 2005

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Endeca, the leading provider of Guided Navigation(R), Search and Analysis solutions, was voted as the best presenting company at this year's PC Forum by the event's esteemed audience of technology visionaries, business leaders and influential members of the media. A total of 11 companies were invited to present at the renowned conference on the future of technology. Inventors and builders of a wide variety of cutting-edge technologies, these companies represent the next generation of the software industry.

The 2005 event marks the first time this distinction was voted on and awarded to a presenting company. PC Forum is sponsored by Release 1.0, a CNET Networks property. As the winner, Endeca was granted three months of online advertising across the CNET Network's network of sites.

In 2001, after two years of dedicated research and development, Endeca introduced a new approach to information access and retrieval called Guided Navigation, and in the process redefined "search" as it is commonly known. Guided Navigation mimics the human discovery process by integrating the two most common means of finding information online -- searching and browsing -- allowing users to continually adapt and hone their search based on their own determination of relevancy. Guided Navigation is now the foundation of Endeca's award-winning and highly successful enterprise search (Endeca ProFind(TM)) and e-commerce search (Endeca InFront(R)) solutions, which create intuitive customer and employee interactions with huge volumes of product data and enterprise content -- giving these important users the powerful tools they need to make informed decisions. At PC Forum 2005, Endeca took this approach one step further with the introduction of its third commercial offering, Endeca Latitude(TM), which builds upon this next-generation approach to information discovery by adding the analysis, visualization and reporting capabilities commonly associated with business intelligence solutions.

Endeca is now one of the world's fastest growing software companies. The company reported over 100 percent year-over-year growth in sales in 2004, and doubled worldwide staff during the same period. Endeca customers represent a who's-who of the public and private sectors and include leaders like Bank of America, Circuit City, The Home Depot, IBM, The Library of Congress, John Deere, NASA, Wal-Mart and critical Federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

"When Endeca introduced Guided Navigation in 2001, we forever changed the definition of search and the type of information retrieval applications that were possible," said Steve Papa, Founder and Chairman of Endeca. "In the coming years, the familiar search box and results list will give way to a new kind of user experience where information is presented in context so users can tailor their discovery based on what they deem most relevant."
