Quest Software Offers New Product to Drive Compliance in Active Directory Environments
Business Wire, March 30, 2005
IRVINE, Calif. -- Quest Change Manager Detects and Corrects Unwanted Changes in Active Directory and Group Policy
Quest Software Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and Windows management solutions, has added a new product to its Active Directory solution set. Change Manager for Active Directory provides real-time change tracking and protection for Active Directory, as well as for Group Policy - without the overhead of native auditing.
Change Manager for Active Directory has been chosen for implementation by Inergy Automotive Systems, a leading designer and manufacturer of automotive fuel systems. "Secure systems management is a high priority at Inergy, so it's critical for us to have detailed, accurate information about all changes to Active Directory and Group Policy," said Arun DeSouza, chief information security officer, Inergy Automotive Systems. "We chose Quest Change Manager for Active Directory because we want to give our global systems administrators a proactive way to maintain control over Active Directory. Change Manager for Active Directory will allow us to further promote and apply standard security policies and processes across the company."
Change Manager provides a centralized and detailed log of who changed what, when, where and how. Change Manager captures before and after values, and can automatically reverse unwanted changes. Change Manager also proactively prevents changes to the most critical Active Directory objects, Group Policy objects (GPOs) and configuration settings. Unlike other products, Quest Change Manager does not depend on native auditing, speeds deployment and eliminates any negative impact on domain controllers.
"As the gatekeeper to network resources and a proven technology for policy enforcement, Active Directory and Group Policy are ideal focal points for compliance and security initiatives," said Betsy Bender, director, Active Directory solutions, Quest Software. "Change Manager satisfies regulatory and internal requirements by providing unparalleled visibility into changes in Active Directory and Group Policy, with the power to proactively protect critical objects and to react, in real-time, to inappropriate changes."
Highlights of Change Manager include:
--Tracking of all changes to Active Directory objects, schema and configuration, without the overhead of native auditing.
--Tracking of all changes to Group Policy settings.
--Long-term archiving of all changes for auditing, trending and forensic analysis.
--Real-time notification of changes.
--Automatic corrective action for undesired changes to preserve security and ensure compliance.
--Proactive prevention of changes to the most critical objects and policy settings.
