FlipAlbum 6 Now Available from E-Book Systems; New Version of Award-Winning Photo Album Program Has Advanced Features for MPEG2 Video Support and Font Embedding

Business Wire, March 8, 2005

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- E-Book Systems, Inc. announces today the release of FlipAlbum(R) 6, which allows users to instantly create cross-platform compatible digital photo albums or product catalogs featuring E-Book Systems' patented 3-D page-flipping interface. FlipAlbum(R) 6 extends the sharing capability by allowing users to export their digital photo albums to a higher-quality MPEG-2 video format to create SVCDs or DVDs.

The award-winning FlipAlbum(R) series allows users to create personalized digital photo albums on their PCs. Users can arrange digital pictures into virtual 3-D page-flipping albums and add background music, text, video and select design themes. The albums can be burned onto CD-ROMs and shared with PC and Mac users, as well as on VCDs, SVCDs or DVDs for TV viewing.

More than one million copies of FlipAlbum(R) products have been sold, and E-Book Systems continues to improve the product in each new version to fit end users' needs. FlipAlbum(R) 6 contains several new features, including:

--New MPEG-2 format - Users can export albums to higher-quality MPEG-2 video format to create SVCDs or DVDs.

--Font embedding in album CDs - Recipients of album CDs will no longer need the fonts to be present in their PC to see the fonts used.

--New layout template feature - Users are able to select different templates to layout their folder of images.

--Table of contents improvements - Users can change font, size, color and style to the table of contents.

--GIF format support - GIF objects, including animated GIFs, can be added to pages.

--Crop shapes - Users are able to add their own crop shape, in addition to the default shapes provided.

"We believe the new features in this version are useful to professional and recreational photographers," says Eugene Tan, vice president of sales and marketing for E-Book Systems. "They've been asking for these advanced features, and we delivered!"

There are three versions in the FlipAlbum(R) 6 line: FlipAlbum(R) 6 Pro (SRP $159.95), FlipAlbum(R) 6 Suite (as described above; SRP $69.95) and FlipAlbum(R) 6 Standard (SRP $39.95).

FlipAlbum(R) 6 Pro contains additional security features as well as the commercial license for photographers to sell photo album CDs and/or distribute them as promotional tools. This edition allows users to add image encryptions, passwords, watermarks and print locks on the CDs.

FlipAlbum(R) 6 Suite is the ideal FlipAlbum(R) 6 version for consumers who want to create CDs of their page-flipping digital photo albums to share with friends and family. FlipAlbum(R) 6 Standard contains several of the same features as FlipAlbum(R) 6 Suite, but it does not allow users to create CDs, export albums to MPEG-2 format or embed fonts.

E-Book Systems also offers a suite of enterprise solutions based on its patented Digital Flip(R) technology with support for Digital Rights Management (DRM) and documents in Adobe(R) PDF format.
