Xybernaut Joins Industry Leaders for Wearable Computing Symposium at Graz University in Austria; CEO Ed Newman to Lead Discussion on ``Wearable and Pervasive Computing''

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Xybernaut(R) Corporation (NASDAQ: XYBR) today announced that Company chairman and CEO will be a keynote speaker on discussions related to wearable computing technologies during the Workshop on Wearable and Pervasive Computing at the Graz Series of technology discussions in Austria.

WHAT: The symposium on Wearable and Pervasive Computing is part of a two-day program organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Graz University of Technology and the Austrian Electrotechnical Association. Graz University of Technology is one of the leading research universities in Austria and was one of the first higher education institutions to create university-level degree programs concentrating on wearable computing and related technologies.

The workshop on Wearable and Pervasive Computing emphasizes next-generation technologies and the role that companies and academia will play in developing and supporting wearable computing solutions as well as the most promising applications for wearable computers and related technologies.

KEYNOTE ABSTRACT:

Mr. Newman will present a keynote entitled Wearable Computers: Past, Present and Future. The presentation will put the era of wearable and mobile computing into its proper perspective in the history of modern-day information processing. This presentation will emphasize the technologies, applications and impacts of wearable computing, convergence communications and computing and information delivery to the person from the late 1980's through the end of the first decade of this century.

Topics covered will range from enablers and obstacles, market opportunities, convergent technologies such as Wireless Communications, RFID, GPS/GIS, Telematics, Conductive Textiles, Biometrics and Sensors, Robotics, Intelligent Structures and Campuses, Information Appliance Convergence, and Man-Machine Interfaces. Mr. Newman will also provide an update on wearable and mobile systems and solutions while also providing perspective on the acceptance of these technologies on an international level. His perspectives are based on his own personal experiences in directing the activities of one of the companies leading the charge to create and define these new industries.
