Wavecom Takes Customers into the Future; Launching Wavecom OS 6.60 in a New Family of Industrial Wireless Solutions, the Quik Q2686 First in the Family

ISSY-LES-MOULINEAUX, France -- Wavecom SA (NASDAQ:WVCM)(Euronext Nouveau Marche Euronext: AVM)(ISIN: FR0000073066), a leader in pre-packaged wireless communications solutions for automotive, industrial machine-to-machine and mobile professional applications, today announced the launch of the world's most powerful cellular embedded solution based on Wavecom's Operating System 6.60.
A new family of long-life wireless solutions, the Quik Q26 series, especially designed for industrial machine-to-machine applications, is based on Wavecom's operating system OS 6.60 and paves the way to future EDGE and 3G developments. Wavecom's unique operating system comes with an advanced version of Open AT software environment which features lower power modes, new APIs (Application Programming Interface), improved connectivity for USB and remote monitoring ports and internet package. The first member of the Q26 series, the Quik Q2686 is the most compact quad-band GSM/GPRS solution available on the market today. Powered by a new ARM9 processor, large memory to accommodate more customer-developed programs, this solution will take even the most demanding applications well into the future.
This solution will offer greater DOTA (Download Over-The-Air) capacity making remote e-maintenance and new feature enhancements a reality. Software upgrades to application equipment can now be done while the equipment is in the field, without ever having to return it to a service center, thereby truly reducing the total cost of ownership.

This new family of solutions, available in interchangeable GSM and CDMA versions, will have an extended lifespan of up to ten years and will support the development of technology evolutions including EDGE and 3G. In addition, the Q2686 is fully "lead-free" compliant according to RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and meets worldwide guidelines of low lead content.
