Strategic Alliance Results in TAG Entertainment Participation in the Production and Release of Big Screen Thriller ``Pool Hall Prophets''
Business Wire, March 9, 2005
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- TAG Entertainment Corp. (OTCBB: TAGE) joins the production of "Pool Hall Prophets" as a member of the Louisiana limited liability company Pool Hall Prophets LLC. The LLC was created for the express purpose of producing and distributing the feature film release "Pool Hall Prophets." Other managing members of the LLC include Seven Arts Pictures, Inc. and Andertainment, LLC.
This feature film production was brought to TAG Entertainment by Seven Arts International. TAG welcomed the opportunity to expand its existing relationship with the company. Mr. Steve Austin, Chairman & CEO, said: "Our involvement with this project is a direct result of our continuing relationship with Seven Arts. We look forward to pursuing additional projects with this team." To date, Seven Arts International distributes three feature films on behalf of TAG: "Supercross," "Popstar" and "Red Riding Hood."
Film Synopsis
"Pool Hall Prophets" is an urban thriller set in the elusive world of pool hall competition. The film stars veteran actor Ving Rhames ("Mission: Impossible I, II, III," "Lilo & Stitch," "Pulp Fiction"), Hollywood heartthrob Freddie Prinze Jr. ("She's All That," "Scooby Doo," "I Know What You Did Last Summer") and newcomer Roselyn Sanchez ("Rush Hour 2," "Chasing Papi," "As The World Turns") as "Jezebel."
This edgy film brings us into the world of Jericho Hudson (Freddie Prinze Jr.), a street kid with a gift for shooting pool. The film opens with the main character immediately being drawn into a dangerous hustle when he is played as a pawn in a contest of wits (and nine-ball) between two old nemeses: Cue Ball Carl Bridges (Ving Rhames), Jericho's mentor and a legendary pool hustler, and Timothy Mortensen, a corrupt vice cop with a grudge and a secret past. With the help of his girlfriend Jezebel (Rosalyn Sanchez), Jericho puts his own bold hustle into motion revealing that he too is driven by unknown and vengeful motivations. This film chronicles the complicated personal journey of Jericho, from streetwise kid on the rise in the underground circuit to successful pool hustler caught in a dangerous game of deception.
Writer/Director Keoni Waxman ("Lost Treasure," "Local Boys," "Intrepid") wrote the original screenplay and brought a fresh perspective to the filmmaking process. His unique directing style evoked exceptional performances from the entire cast. Shot over three months, this film production delivers complex characters interwoven in an intricate and suspenseful story.
The production also harnesses the producing talents of Jeff Geoffray ("Around The World In 80 Days," "Holes," "Slow Burn"), Susan Hoffman ("Murder By Numbers," "Desperate Measures," "Single White Female") and Michael Mullen ("American Girl," "Third Wheel").
Principal photography began in November 2004 and wrapped in January 2005. The entire production was filmed in New Orleans, Louisiana, with many key scenes shot in the historic French Quarter. "Pool Hall Prophets" is slated for theatrical release by Blockbuster in the fall of 2005 and will be distributed internationally by Seven Arts International.
