InfoWorld Names IDG Veteran Bob Ostrow President and Publisher; New Position to Focus on Expanding InfoWorld's Integrated Offerings
Business Wire, May 10, 2005
SAN FRANCISCO -- InfoWorld, the leading provider of comprehensive technology intelligence, today announced that Bob Ostrow has joined the team as President and Publisher, a new position. Ostrow, who brings an extensive background in integrated sales and marketing management, most recently served as publisher of PC World where he grew the business in all key metrics, including pages, online and print revenue, market share, and overall profit. Sales, marketing, and events departments will report to Ostrow, who will work out of InfoWorld's Framingham, MA office. Editorial responsibilities will be managed by Kevin McKean, Chairman and Editorial Director.
As Publisher at PC World for the past five years, Ostrow championed the "PC-Proficient Manager" positioning that fueled the brand's growth. The 22-year technology media veteran rose through the organization, beginning as a regional rep and progressing to senior account manager, eastern ad manager, and eastern ad director. Before joining IDG, Ostrow was part of the team that re-launched PC Magazine after its acquisition by Ziff Davis.
"InfoWorld is a technology brand with unlimited potential," said Ostrow. "As advertisers increasingly evaluate their marketing investment based on proven performance, we're dedicated to a level of cross-media integration and proven ROI that other technology media brands just can't match."
"Bob's track record speaks for itself and represents the future of InfoWorld," said McKean. "He is an experienced publishing leader who will champion and drive InfoWorld's mission and integrated media programs, including online, events, and print, in support of our advertising partners."
