Business Wire, May 13, 2005

WAYNE, N.J. -- Audible, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADBL), the leading provider of digitally delivered spoken word audio, today announced that the company has enabled Texas Instruments' OMAP platform and TMS320DA255 Digital Signal Processor (DSP) support of Audible's Software Development Kit (SDK). Texas Instruments can deliver AudibleReady features to device manufacturers easily enabling the audible.com(R) Internet audio service on audio playback devices including mobile phones. Texas Instruments products that support the Audible Internet audio service are now available for licensing to device design and manufacturing firms.

"TI's flexible DA255 digital audio solution provides the performance, battery efficiency and programmability required to enable portable digital audio players that can adapt to changing market demands," said Chris Schairbaum, manager of Portable Audio and Infotainment at TI. "TI provides manufacturers with turnkey reference designs that can be easily customized with additional features, such as audio book playback using Audible's Software Development Kit."

"We are excited that Audible is delivering unique audio services on top of the TI OMAP platform," said Bryce Johnstone, TITLE. "The combination of Audible's SDK with TI OMAP processors allows TI's mobile phone OEMs to address the burgeoning market for revenue generating audio services for operators."

"By working with leading chip manufacturers such as Texas Instruments, Audible is streamlining the process of making a digital audio player AudibleReady," said Foy Sperring, senior vice president, Strategic Alliances. "Audible will continue to broaden the range of AudibleReady devices available, and we look forward to demonstrating how much of a high-value partner we are to those who build interoperability into their devices."

The AudibleReady SDK enables manufacturers to support Audible's Internet audio service in current and future audio devices and multimedia platforms with a minimum of development. Some of the key elements of the AudibleReady SDK program include:

--Support for secure playback of audio content in Audible's proprietary format and DRM, with the full complement of AudibleReady spoken word user experience features

--Secure access technologies that allow automated downloads of audio directly to devices and personal computers

--Integrated support for ACELP(R).net speech compression from VoiceAge Corporation

The Audible Software Development Kit (SDK) enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of mobile audio devices, as well as Audible's original design manufacturer (ODM) and integrated circuit vendor (ICV) partners to simply and rapidly adopt Audible's technology for seamless download, transfer, and playback of the more than 70,000 hours of spoken word audio programming available for download at audible.com.
