Leading Mutual Bank Provider Selects NEC's Fault Tolerant Platform; Liberty Bank Deploys NEC's Express5800/320LB Fault Tolerant Server to Run Its ATM Application
Business Wire, May 16, 2005
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- NEC Solutions (America), Inc., a premier provider of integrated solutions for the Connected Enterprise in North America, today announced that Liberty Bank has chosen NEC's Express5800/320Lb fault tolerant server to support its Automated Teller Machine (ATM) applications and its new software platform, Postilion, a business critical ATM software. Comparable to all NEC fault tolerant servers, the Express5800/320Lb delivers up to 99.999 percent uptime, without failover to prevent the loss of data applications, allowing Liberty Bank to offer its customers ATM availability and improved customer service.
After experiencing a surge in customer growth, Connecticut-based Liberty Bank needed to expand its services to adapt and accommodate customer requirements. The mutual savings bank needed a more robust server solution that would provide maximum uptime and reliability while supporting its new ATM software, Postilion. Unlike the banks legacy software system PACE, Postilion is designed to meet compliance requirements, reduce transaction processing costs and enable the bank to more accurately monitor customer transactions. With these needs in mind, Liberty Bank turned to NEC.
With NEC's Express5800/320Lb fault tolerant server now hosting its ATM applications, Liberty Bank is able to remotely monitor, analyze and manage its server in any situation all day, every day. The IT staff has added the capability to swap out any component and replace modules without causing any ATM downtime. The decision to combine the deployment of Postilion on NEC fault tolerant server platform provides Liberty Bank with one of the highest levels in system availability and data integrity. In addition, NEC's disaster recovery fault tolerant solution will further support Liberty Bank's disaster recovery strategy to protect ATMs in the event of an environmental disaster.
"NEC recognizes the need in the financial industry for fast, reliable information access and superior customer service. NEC is excited to offer its financial services customers innovative fault tolerant server technology," said Larry Sheffield, executive vice president of the Solutions Platform Group for NEC Solutions America. "Financial services companies can now take advantage of the Express5800/320Lb server's high availability for essential applications while getting the most value from their technology investment."
"NEC's Fault Tolerant Server incorporates everything we desire in a server solution," said Chuck Pennewill, Vice President Manager EFT "Our legacy solution wasn't able to provide the level of service and reliability that our customers demand. Using NEC's server solution, we can provide increased ATM operation so that our customers can continue to access their accounts and retrieve their financial data. With customer service intact, we can minimize the impact to maintenance and profitability."
