Business Wire, May 16, 2005
LAUSANNE, Switzerland & MINNEAPOLIS -- IDeaS, the leading provider of revenue optimization solutions and one of the industry's fastest growing technology companies today announced a partnership with the acclaimed Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL). EHL and IDeaS will be working towards developing the next generation of technology-based hospitality solutions.
"Technology has become a fundamental part of successfully serving the guest in today's global hospitality environment," said Ian Millar of Ecole hoteliere Lausanne. "As one of the industry's premier global suppliers IDeaS was a logical choice for us to partner with. Their proven track record of delivering technically advanced products into the world's most demanding hospitality environments demonstrates their qualification to help our students become versed in the important role of revenue optimization."
Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne is the world's foremost educational institute for the international hospitality industry. Since 1893, they have served the hospitality industry by helping to build a professional, responsible and sustainable future for it. This has been accomplished through the school's focus on identifying, recruiting, educating and supporting young management and leadership talent.
EHL's CyberHotel Program
The CyberHotel, is a specially equipped and fully functional room on the EHL campus that features the hotel industry's best practice IT solutions currently used within the industry.
In line with EHL's philosophy of combining theory and practice, faculty use the CyberHotel to demonstrate real-life applications of classroom theory. In time, students gain varied, practical hospitality IT experience.
This enhanced learning experience is extended to EHL Alumni and guests visiting the CyberHotel, who are able to learn about or stay up-to- date with current technologies.
"Much like IDeaS, Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne has worked to promote innovative approaches to solve the hospitality industry's most pressing challenges," said Ed Booth, Chairman and CEO for IDeaS. "Regardless of a hotel's size, location or grade, technology has come to play an integral role back of house, at the front desk and in the guest room. We are delighted to be able to promote industry understanding by sharing our expertise and experience in this way."
Added Uli Pillau, IDeaS Managing Director in EAME, "As the leading Revenue Management provider in Europe we have been working very closely with the Ecole hoteliere in Lausanne over the past several years. In that time IDeaS has participated in a variety of events and conferences at the school, and conducted workshops and seminars with the students focusing on the future of revenue management technologies. Throughout, we have found the level of education and commitment demonstrated by the Lausanne student population to be exceptional."
Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne
As the oldest hotel school in the world, Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) offers university-level studies to talented and ambitious students who are aiming for top careers in the hospitality industry. It is the only institution of its kind in Europe to be accredited as an Institution of Higher Education by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), USA. In Switzerland, it is the only institute of hospitality management of HES ("Haute Ecole Specialisee", or University of Applied Sciences) level offering advanced programmes which are recognized by the Federal Council.
In addition to this international recognition, EHL constantly broadens the scope of its 3 academic programmes by integrating market trends and new technologies. Since its founding in 1893, EHL has educated more than 30,000 hospitality industry executives who now make up a prestigious network for every member of the EHL community.
