Business Wire, May 16, 2005
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- SEPATON, Inc., the emerging leader in non-disruptive, high-performance data protection solutions, today announced it has signed a worldwide original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with HP to develop an integrated virtual tape product that offers customers an innovative mix of manageability, flexibility and performance.
SEPATON's data protection platform is built on a dynamic file system and has an intelligent software core with the power to distinguish content and files. This enables customers to perform a range of crucial data protection functions faster and more efficiently, without disrupting existing work processes.
"HP is recognized as one of the largest and broadest suppliers of tape library products in the world and has a well-deserved reputation of innovation and quality," said Mike Worhach, president and CEO, SEPATON, Inc. "We are very pleased to be partnering with one of the strongest players in the storage industry, extending our reach in the disk-based data protection market. This agreement further confirms our leadership position and underscores the value of our software architecture."
Integrating SEPATON's data protection platform into the HP StorageWorks 6000 Virtual Library System enables customers to accelerate backup performance in complex SAN environments and improve the overall reliability of their data protection requirements.
"SEPATON's software architecture differentiates its virtual tape library from others in the market by offering disk-based data protection that goes far beyond other products," said Bob Wilson, vice president and general manager of Nearline Storage in the StorageWorks Division at HP. "This provides the HP StorageWorks 6000 Virtual Library System with dramatically improved backup and recovery performance and the ability to automate and virtualize the configuration and maintenance of shared storage at the lowest cost per MB/s of any product in its class."
