Avision to Bundle Adobe Acrobat 7.0 with Scanner Line; Worldwide Document Imaging Market Share Leader to Include Acrobat 7.0 Standard Software with Complete Scanner Suite
Business Wire, May 17, 2005
NEWARK, Calif. -- Avision, a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced it will bundle Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) 7.0 software with Avision scanners shipping worldwide. As part of the agreement, Acrobat 7.0 Standard is now available with every workgroup, departmental, and production scanner across the Avision product line.
Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files have become the de facto file format for corporations within the financial services, education, energy, government, healthcare and manufacturing industries -- all of which have requirements to digitize and store the mass amounts of paper-based information produced on a daily basis. Now, with Acrobat 7.0 Standard, users have even more features and functionality to create, secure, share, review, and archive files.
"As organizations move to digitize more and more of their critical document-based processes, Adobe PDF continues to grow in importance," said Pam Deziel, director of Acrobat product marketing, Intelligent Documents Business Unit, Adobe. "The combination of Avision scanners and Acrobat 7.0 offers customers a compelling proposition -- an easy-to-use, efficient means to convert paper to more secure and fully searchable PDF files that can then be shared, collaborated on and archived."
Acrobat 7.0 Standard incorporates new functions, including expanded security and authentication features for encrypting and digitally signing documents. Acrobat 7.0 Standard also includes an expanded set of collaboration features for managing document-based reviews.
In addition to the Acrobat 7.0 Standard software's simplified user interface and enhanced speed and performance, Avision scanner users have access to all of the new features and functionality, including the ability to:
--Automatically scan paper document archives to compact, fully searchable Adobe PDF files.
--Increase file security with password protection to prevent unauthorized users from opening and viewing sensitive documents.
--Apply permissions with 128-bit encryption that control whether users are allowed to view, edit, comment on, sign, or print Adobe PDF files.
--Approve final documents with digital signatures, verify authenticity and build a list of trusted certificates.
--Automatically create a list of reviewers and track whether feedback is received.
--Indicate text edits such as insertions, deletions, and replacements with a single keystroke; add custom stamps; and use sticky notes and highlights to comment on documents.
--Convert Microsoft Office application files to Adobe PDF with one button click.
--Gather comments from multiple reviewers into a single Adobe PDF file, or view them collectively in a separate window and export comments to Microsoft Word 2002 to eliminate retyping.
