TRADE NEWS: Agilent Technologies' VEE Pro 7.5 Supports National Instruments' Data-Acquisition Hardware; VEE Pro 7.5 Features Open Connectivity for Increased Productivity
Business Wire, May 2, 2005
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced that its Visual Engineering Environment (VEE) Pro 7.5 software now has easy access to National Instruments' data-acquisition hardware products, including PXI, SCXI and PC plug-in data-acquisition cards and modular instruments. VEE Pro 7.5 also adds seamless access to Microsoft(R) Excel and to .NET controls and functions.
Agilent VEE Pro, named one of EDN Magazine's "Hot 100 Products of 2004," is a highly intuitive, graphical programming environment that helps speed development of measurement and control, analysis, test-system and data-acquisition applications in industries including aerospace and defense, wireless and consumer electronics. VEE is a key software product of Agilent Open, a program that provides a broad range of system-ready instruments, open industry software and PC-standard I/O, that simplify the process of connecting and programming test systems so engineers can focus on solving engineering problems, rather than creating and managing test systems.
"Agilent VEE Pro has proven to be a highly productive test software development environment for programmers and non-programmers alike," said Mark Pierpoint, vice president of Agilent's Measurement and Analysis Software Group. "Version 7.5's new capabilities allow engineers to work in their environment of choice -- a key component of the Agilent Open program."
In VEE Pro 7.5, National Instruments' data-acquisition products appear as devices in VEE's Instrument Manager. They can be accessed easily through an interface much like a standard VXIplug&play driver, with function panels to simplify programming. VEE Pro 7.5 includes seamless, menu-driven communications with Microsoft Excel, enabling quick creation of spreadsheets for presenting measurement data and test results. In addition, VEE 7.5 allows users to incorporate Microsoft .NET controls into graphical user interfaces and provides wizard-like tools to simplify using the .NET Framework as well as IVI-COM drivers. VEE Pro supports instruments and devices from all vendors, and version 7.5 adds 40 new sample programs for 150 top Agilent instruments to enable users to set up and take measurements then analyze, display and store data, all within 3 minutes.
