Business Wire, May 23, 2005
PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Polycom(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:PLCM), the world's leading provider of unified collaborative communications solutions, today announced it has received several significant industry awards, including the 2005 Frost & Sullivan Technology Leadership Award for "Advances in Telemedicine and Patient Care Technology." In addition, Communications Solutions Magazine awarded the SoundStation2W(TM) wireless conference phone with a "2004 Product of the Year" award, and the Polycom VSX(TM) 3000 integrated desktop video conferencing solution was recognized as a Network Computing Magazine 2004 Well Connected Award finalist.
"These latest awards are a reflection of Polycom's continued industry leadership and customer focus both in innovative products and on vertical solutions for healthcare and telemedicine," said Steve Huey, chief marketing officer of Polycom. "We are proud of Frost & Sullivan's recognition of Polycom as the continued technology leader in the telemedicine space and are continuing this level of focus on our other vertical markets, including government, education and telejustice."
Polycom Telemedicine Solutions -- 2005 Frost & Sullivan Technology Leadership Award
In a recent 2005 industry study entitled "Advances in Telemedicine and Patient Care Technology in North America" (#D356), Frost & Sullivan announced that Polycom, Inc. is the recipient of the 2005 Frost & Sullivan Technology Leadership Award. This recognition is based on 400 hours of market analysis conducted by Frost & Sullivan industry analysts.
Polycom offers solutions for a broad range of telemedicine applications to enable remote patient care, remote physician training, remote administrative briefings, training and support, as well as the ability to help diagnose medical equipment problems. Polycom recently added two new telemedicine systems. The MediLink Cart is a secure, mobile solution that integrates the output of multiple devices and/or non-medical peripherals into a video conference. The Practitioner Cart delivers real-time interactive voice and video communications capabilities in circumstances when maximum mobility is required within minimal storage areas.
Polycom SoundStation2W(TM) -- "2004 Product of the Year" Communications Solutions Magazine
Communications Solutions Magazine awarded a "2004 Product of the Year" award to the Polycom SoundStation2W, the first wireless conference phone based on the award-winning, triangular-shaped SoundStation(R) line -- the most widely used conference phones in the world. Delivered in September 2004, The SoundStation2W sets a new standard for everyday voice conferencing with enhanced voice quality, secure 2.4 GHz WDCT or 1.9 GHz DECT technology with voice encryption, up to 24 hours of talk time via a Lithium Ion battery, and the ability to dial through a cell phone. The SoundStation2W is ideal for a wide variety of group work environments outside the conference room where portability is essential and there is no telephone outlet (manufacturing floors, work trailers, new construction, etc.), as a shared resource for personal offices, and conference rooms where customers want to reduce cable requirements.
The SoundStation2W also previously received a "2004 Standing Ovation Award" from Presentations Magazine (announced January 2005).
Polycom VSX 3000 -- Network Computing Magazine Well Connected Award Finalist
Introduced in April 2004 to meet the growing demand for desktop conferencing solutions, the Polycom VSX 3000, an all-in-one, high-quality video conferencing system and display for the executive desktop, received a 2004 Well Connected Award Finalist designation from Network Computing Magazine. The Polycom VSX 3000 is a complete, integrated system that includes a high-performance video conferencing system combined with a built-in camera, microphone, speakers and 17-inch LCD display that can also be used as the PC monitor. The integrated solution is ideally suited for desktops, executive suites, remote offices, doctor's offices and educational resource rooms.
The VSX 3000 also previously received a 2004 Product of the Year award from Internet telephony Magazine (announced January 2005).
"Polycom is proud to receive these awards, which complement the strong reception that these products have received in the marketplace," added Huey. "The SoundStation and VSX product lines set the industry standard for quality, performance and overall customer value in their respective categories. It is gratifying for Polycom to receive recognition from customers and media for our breakthrough products."
