Xiotech Announces Certification with IBM BladeCenter
Business Wire, May 23, 2005
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Xiotech Corporation today announced that it has now joined IBM's BladeCenter(TM) Alliance Program and qualified IBM BladeCenter for use with Magnitude 3D(TM). Xiotech is the recognized leader in providing innovative, scalable storage area network (SAN)-based storage for blade server environments and is the first storage-centric member of the Blade Systems Alliance.
By deploying Magnitude 3D in blade server environments, small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) can combine the benefits of server consolidation with Magnitude 3D's simplicity of operation, ease of use and enterprise-class resilience. In addition, Magnitude 3D's ability to allow blade servers to boot from the SAN without requiring software within the server enables organizations to deploy servers in a matter of minutes as opposed to the hours or days required by other solutions. Alternate solutions require added time spent installing, configuring and tuning proprietary software on every blade server in the infrastructure.
Xiotech and IBM already have a number of customers running IBM BladeCenter with Magnitude 3D, including the Ysleta Independent School District, ViaGen, Baker Hill Corporation, HDR, Oceaneering International and Oregon Bridge Delivery Partners.
"With IBM BladeCenter and Magnitude 3D, I can deploy just about any configuration that I can come up with," said Doug Chamlee of the Ysleta Independent School District. "The server features combined with the flexibility and scalability of the storage lends itself to endless combinations."
"By expanding support for blade systems Xiotech is further demonstrating its commitment to providing SMEs with storage solutions that are affordable, easy to use and resilient," said Mike Stolz, vice president of marketing at Xiotech. "Magnitude 3D's ability to boot servers from the SAN and no requirement for host software make deploying and deriving return on investment from blade servers easy."
