Intuit Adds Patch Management to Track-It! Product Line; Patch Manager Simplifies Software Update Process; Strengthens Security
Business Wire, May 24, 2005
TAMPA, Fla. -- A new product from Intuit Inc.'s (Nasdaq:INTU) Information Technology Solutions makes it easier for information technology managers to install software patches and strengthen network security.
Patch Manager(R) is a straightforward, easy-to-use package that scans, assesses, deploys and validates Microsoft Windows software patches, giving users greater confidence that patches are correctly installed and their networks are protected. The product is designed for small and medium-sized businesses and the business units of larger companies. It is offered as part of Intuit's Track-It! software, the world's leading installed help desk and asset management solution.
Fully Automated, Detailed Reports
Patch Manager is fully automated, so administrators can easily schedule scans, install missing patches and re-boot machines. This allows them to ensure that all systems are kept up to date with critical patches. In addition, users can predetermine which patches to automatically download and deploy, ignoring those that are not specifically approved.
"As a long time customer of Intuit and an avid user of Track-It!, we are excited to see Patch Manager added to their portfolio of solutions," said Chad Peck, information technology director at American Consulting Engineers of Florida LLC. "Now, in addition to managing our Help Desk and our IT Assets more efficiently, we are able to automate another process that has burdened our technicians. Using Patch Manager, we no longer have to manually check for patches, monitor the patch status of each of our workstations, and then load each patch. These processes happen automatically, freeing our technicians to serve other critical support functions."
As new patches become available, Patch Manager provides IT administrators with information regarding the potential risk and necessity of each one. Additionally, it displays detailed data on each file in the patch including filename, version, location, date and checksum. To track the patch management process, detect patterns and easily assess status, Patch Manager includes more than 20 management reports.
"Ensuring the highest level of information security is not an easy task, especially in today's environment of unpredictable vulnerabilities and constantly changing threats," said David Weiss, vice president and general manager of Intuit Information Technology Solutions. "Patch Manager continues the Track-It! tradition of providing powerful, easy-to-use and affordable solutions that help IT administrators solve key problems."
