WebDrive Enhances Microsoft's MSN Desktop Search; WebDrive Adds Internet Servers to MSN Search
Business Wire, May 24, 2005
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- South River Technologies (SRT), the pioneers of Internet drive mapping, announced today that WebDrive has been certified to work seamlessly with Microsoft's newly released MSN Desktop search. WebDrive is a desktop client solution that connects a Windows drive letter to a web server. Users can access files with applications that they already use or from within the familiar interface of Windows Explorer.
MSN Desktop Search currently allows users to search for files on their desktop and local network servers. The addition of WebDrive extends this function by giving users the ability to index and search remote web servers. Users conduct one search that pulls together files from local and remote locations.
"We pioneered Internet drive mapping technology to simplify access and editing of remote files" says Michael Ryan, CEO of South River Technologies. "We are increasingly seeing the technology being used to extend and enhance the functionality of other applications. MSN Desktop Search is an excellent example of WebDrive expanding the reach of other practical solutions."
