AeroGuard MIMO Access Points Solve Delays in Wireless Uploading of Mobile Law Enforcement Video Footage
Business Wire, May 24, 2005
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- VAR Selects AeroGuard for Improved Streaming Performance of Surveillance Content to Reduce the Idling Time of Police Cruisers as They Upload Files
SOHOware announces the selection of AeroGuard(TM) by International Police Technologies, Inc. (IPT) of Tulsa, OK, for applications involving the uploading of video surveillance footage from law enforcement vehicles to their agency servers for storage. AeroGuard(TM) is based on True MIMO(TM) technology and supports up to 108Mbps over a single 20MHz channel. Actual throughput between APs located in the vehicle and precinct building exceeds 40Mbps, which is unmatched in comparative tests with other WLAN solutions.
IPT is one of SOHOware's value added resellers (VAR) with expertise in the mobile surveillance marketplace. As more municipal police departments and other law enforcement agencies turn to real-time video capture to support their officers' activities, they turn to experts like IPT for high performance packages designed to meet the unique archiving needs of each agency. IPT has installed AeroGuard(TM) in three separate agencies to date.
The unprecedented throughput performance of MIMO makes the difference, according Nick Rainwater, Engineer for IPT. "We knew wireless uploads were the way to go for most agencies but could not achieve the transfer times our customers demanded until we tested AeroGuard(TM) MIMO APs," says Nick, who continues, "Previously, we achieved a maximum of only 22Mbps throughput per AP with 108Mbps rated products, which was unacceptably slow for the file sizes we need to archive. But with AeroGuard we've seen throughput increase to as high as 44Mbps per AP. Our customers have seen upload times decrease significantly allowing for faster shift changes."
An AeroGuard(TM) video upload installation utilizes several key features. First is superior MIMO technology, which combines the higher RF diversity and sensitivity of multiple antennas with specialized digital processing for unparalleled range and throughput. Second is built-in WLAN switch software that allows the designation of a MIMO WLAN switch AP at each installation to support centralized security policy and administrative control. Third, AeroGuard(TM) can form a wireless bridge between APs automatically, which means as agency vehicles approach a precinct location the file transfer commences without the officer having to manually initiate the upload, saving additional time and allowing agency personnel to focus on the duties they are trained to perform.
SOHOware is offering AeroGuard(TM) MIMO solutions through qualified VARs such as IPT who target SMB and distributed enterprise customers. Dedicated to an exclusively VAR-direct business model, SOHOware offers greater returns and leading edge technology. AeroGuard(TM) is based on True MIMO(TM) technology by Airgo Networks, and provides exceptional performance, security and management value including 802.11i compliance, embedded RADIUS authentication and scalable NMS options.
