Frost & Sullivan Recognizes TriSenx Holdings, Inc. for Technology Innovation in its Novel Fragrance-Releasing Computer Peripheral Device, the Scent Dome

Business Wire, May 25, 2005

NAPLES, Fla. -- TriSenx Holdings, Inc. will receive the 2005 Technology Innovation of the Year Award tonight at Frost & Sullivan's third annual Excellence in Industrial Technologies Banquet for the company's unique product design of its revolutionary fragrance-enhanced, digital content, computer peripheral device, Scent Dome.

The Scent Dome(TM) is a serial port/USB computer peripheral device that receives commands from custom software called the Scent Design Studio (SDS)(TM) Software and is designed to release different fragrances and flavor aromas triggered by computer code embedded in the software which can be attached to e-mail, e-books, Web pages, and other digital content.

The unit, roughly the size of a teapot, generates smells by releasing particles from one or more of 20 liquid-filled odor capsules. The device has a disposable cartridge with 20 specific chambers inside, each containing a chemical compound that can mix with others to match the custom scent the user has created.

"Customers can even have the smell triggered by a particular object or event in a game or in a movie, e-book, music, or Web page," says Frost & Sullivan senior research analyst Dr. Donald V. Rosato. "With the 20-channel generic cartridge system, the Scent Dome can create hundreds of new renditions." TriSenx has a library of 2,000 scents to create customized cartridges for customers for specific uses, and when mixed or combined, creates an unnumbered amount of aromas.

The cartridges, including fragrance and food aromas are disposable and easily interchangeable. Fragrances include scents from common perfumes and colognes to the high-end designer fragrances with exact renditions. Aromas include simple and exotic foods that turn one's computer into the aromatic smells of a bakery, fruit stand, fine restaurant, or one of mom's home-cooked meals.

"The Scent Dome(TM) operates by mixing a variety of scents combined to release the desired aroma," notes Rosato. "Users can either e-mail scents they have created or simply send a pre-determined one."

When a fragrance attachment in the e-mail is opened, details of the required scent recipe transmit electronically to Scent Dome(TM) causing electrical currents to trickle through a palette of oil-laden vials. The Scent Dome(TM) mixes the required cocktail of smells stored inside the fragrance canisters and a small fan, located within the Scent Dome(TM), starts up and disperses the aroma through the air.

San Stone, LLC created the cosmetic finish of the Scent Dome's structure; Elliott Technologies designed the Scent Dome(TM) circuitry. The two companies collectively were able to keep the cost of Scent Dome(TM) down through both material selection and mold-filling analysis while maintaining the complexity of the design features needed for structural integrity. TriSenx selected Eastman Chemical Company's Durastar Copolyester for its wide processing window and high degree of chemical resistance. The design allows the vapors from the fragrance channel to travel through the Scent Dome(TM) without mixing with other scents, thus providing clean and clear aromas to the user.

TriSenx's design and development of the unique MultiSensory Scent Dome(TM) and Scent Enabled digital content makes it a worthy recipient of Frost & Sullivan's 2005 Technology Innovation of the Year Award.

Every year, Frost & Sullivan presents this Award to the company that has carried out new research, which has resulted in innovation(s) that Frost & Sullivan expects to bring significant contributions to the industry in terms of adoption, change, and competitive posture. Held in Naples, Fla., Frost & Sullivan's Excellence in Industrial Technologies Awards Banquet honors world-class companies for outstanding performance and achievements in their industries. An annual event, the banquet recognizes the quality and merit of distinguished individuals and companies.
