Teva Announces Tentative Approval of Zolpidem Tartrate Tablets

JERUSALEM -- Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq:TEVA) announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted tentative approval for the Company's ANDA for Zolpidem Tartrate Tablets, 5 mg and 10 mg. Final approval of this product is anticipated upon expiration of patent protection in October 2006.

Teva's Zolpidem Tartrate Tablets are the AB-rated generic equivalent of Lorex/Sanofi-Synthelabo Inc.'s Ambien Tablets, a product indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia.

The brand product has annual sales of approximately $2 billion.
