CANTON, Miss.--President George W. Bush discussed perspectives on the country's Social Security program at Nissan North America-Canton earlier today. More than 2,000 Nissan employees, along with several White House guests, heard Nissan employee Cynthia Roberts and four other individuals express their views with the President during the hour-long event. The Nissan manufacturing plant, which builds the company's large products -- including the full-size Nissan Titan pickup and Infiniti QX56 full-size SUV -- is located in Canton, Mississippi.

CANTON, Miss.--More than 2,000 Nissan North America-Canton employees crowded today into the plant's Pre-Delivery area to listen to President George W. Bush discuss strengthening Social Security. Nissan Human Resources employee Cynthia Roberts detailed her appreciation for the automotive company's 401(k) program in preparing for her retirement. Four other individuals who had special experience with Social Security, shared their perspective on the issue. The Canton, Mississippi plant manufactures the Nissan Titan full-size pick-up, the Armada and Infiniti QX56 full-size SUVs, the Quest mini-van and the Nissan Altima mid-size sedan.

Held in the manufacturer's $1.43 billion Canton, Mississippi plant before a large audience of Nissan employees and special White House guests, the event was one of the first times a U.S. President had visited a Japanese transplant automotive manufacturer. The President lauded the employees' manufacturing prowess in the town hall-type meeting, which was another in a series of events being held around the country about issues facing the nation.
