Getty Images Launches Its Latest Innovation: Getty Images Media Manager; On-Demand Digital Asset Management Service Delivers Greater Brand Control and Cost Savings
Business Wire, May 4, 2005
SEATTLE -- Getty Images, Inc. (NYSE: GYI) today announces the launch of Getty Images Media Manager, a digital asset management service for marketing professionals that improves brand consistency and produces dramatic savings over the course of an entire marketing lifecycle.
This is the next generation of Getty Images' on-demand Web-based service which has already been successfully implemented for General Motors and Symantec, providing users with a centralized library of their digital media files in a secure, searchable, password-protected environment. Getty Images Media Manager leverages the same expertise and technology that powers gettyimages.com, the imagery source for visual communicators around the world, supporting over 8 million visits and nearly two-and-a-half-billion thumbnails each month.
"For over ten years, the success of our business has centered on the creation, management and licensing of digital imagery to help customers work better and smarter - Getty Images Media Manager is a logical extension of that success," said Jonathan Klein, co-founder and CEO, Getty Images. "It gives customers greater access to our expertise, which is what they've been asking for, and represents a solid opportunity for our business growth as many companies have begun to formalize a digital asset management strategy."
The absence of an effective digital asset management service can lead to brand misuse, increased costs, and delays in product launches. Getty Images Media Manager combats these problems with a solution that is cost-efficient, rapid to deploy, easy to manage, and available 24/7. There is no software or hardware to install, allowing the service to be implemented in a matter of days, and customers pay only for the capacity they require. The service addresses the most complex international marketing needs by offering access to materials from the Web at any time, from anywhere in the world, supporting 17 languages. In addition, customer support is provided on three continents.
"Converting General Motors' 18,000 business users on to the Getty Images Media Manager service has been a successful transition," said Manish Mallick, program manager of asset management and delivery, General Motors. "Getty Images Media Manager simplifies the distribution of marketing materials across geographically dispersed teams and we've already seen strong results in both brand control and accountability. As our users are located in different time zones, the on-demand model has been vital to our success, offering up-to-the-minute information, 24/7. The service really delivers."
"In 2002, we chose Getty Images and their Media Manager service to power our Symantec Digital Library. We see this as a huge competitive advantage over others in our market. This system has enabled us to execute global campaigns and leverage our marketing dollars more effectively," said Diane Beaudet, senior director global marketing communications, Symantec.
Getty Images Media Manager is available in two editions: the WorkGroup Edition, for small groups or companies that want to rapidly implement a digital asset management solution with a limited set of assets, and the Enterprise Edition for companies with large user populations and vast asset collections. Additional information is available at gettyimages.com/mediamanager.
Getty Images Media Manager will be showcased at the Henry Stewart Digital Asset Management Symposium in New York City on Monday, May 9 at 3:30 PM at the Hilton New York at West 53rd Street and Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Ave). The Digital Asset Management Symposium was established in 2001 by Henry Stewart Conference Studies to provide a forum for exchange of best practice among Digital Asset Management project leaders across industries.
