EnvoyWorldWide and Three Rivers Contingency Planning Association Aid In Business Continuity Planning Efforts at PNC Park Disaster Drill

Business Wire, May 6, 2005

BEDFORD, Mass. & PITTSBURGH -- Home of the Pittsburgh Pirates Will Serve as a Full-Scale Exercise to Test the Emergency Response Capabilities of the City of Pittsburgh

EnvoyWorldWide(R), the experienced provider of enterprise notification services, today announced that its Notification Services for Business Continuity will be used by the Three Rivers Contingency Planning Association (TRCPA) to disseminate information to its business membership in support of tomorrow's (Saturday, May 7) PNC Park Disaster Drill in Pittsburgh. Additionally, the technology will be evaluated by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) for providing communications to its incident command team members and emergency medical personnel.

The PNC Park Disaster Drill is a full-scale exercise testing the emergency response capabilities of the City of Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and other area hospitals and various response agencies from around the region to a simulated terrorist event at PNC Park. The event will test detailed response procedures, and will focus on response actions and the decision-making process, integration, and coordination with responding public safety agencies and local businesses as well as jurisdictional issues arising among various organizations, departments, and agencies.

EnvoyWorldWide will provide the TRCPA with real-time notification services to provide its members--businesses based throughout the greater-Pittsburgh area--with key information on the simulated attack, in real-time. EnvoyWorldWide will allow the TRCPA to send messages to specific members via phone, email or pager. The UPMC will evaluate EnvoyWorldWide to send critical messages to first respondents and other key medical personnel.

The services will be used to disseminate status updates throughout the eight-hour event. EnvoyWorldWide Notification Services for Business Continuity will be integral in testing the ability to communicate with TRCPA member businesses throughout the simulated emergency response, including the PNC Park evacuation plan, medical injury classification and triage, victim transportation, scene preservation and security, and decontamination.

EnvoyWorldWide has significant experience in providing notification technology for public safety operations and preparedness drills. In 2003, the company supported Rush Copley Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital with code triage alerts during TOPOFF 2, a city-wide terrorism simulation held in Chicago. Last year, EnvoyWorldWide provided its solutions to the New England Disaster Recovery Exchange (NEDRIX)--the New England counterpart to the TRCPA--at its command control center for communicating with local businesses during the Democratic National Convention in Boston.

"In the event of an emergency, it is imperative that information from the myriad agencies who respond to such an event--both public and private sector organizations--gets out into the hands of public-sector businesses in order to maintain operational continuity," said Ben Levitan, president and CEO of EnvoyWorldWide "The PNC Park drill reinforces the importance of testing and preparedness, and we are proud to support the efforts of the TRCPA. EnvoyWorldWide's work with TRCPA provides their members with the ability to disseminate critical information quickly. "
