Alereon CEO To Discuss Wireless Home Networking at Connections Conference; Eric Broockman to Discuss Next Generation Wireless Solutions

Business Wire, May 9, 2005

AUSTIN, Texas -- Alereon, a leading fabless semiconductor company developing wireless solutions for the Ultrawideband (UWB) and Wireless USB (W-USB) markets, announced today that CEO Eric Broockman will participate in a special discussion of different wireless data connectivity technologies and their role in the growth of the home networking market. The discussion, entitled "The Role of Next-Generation Wireless Connectivity Solutions," takes place Wednesday, May 11, from 12:30-2:00.

UWB is a high-speed, low-power wireless technology that aims to make life easier by eliminating the tangle of wires that connects personal computers, audio and video equipment, consumer electronics and mobile devices. Working in conjunction with leading end-equipment manufacturers in these industries, Alereon's products will provide complete solutions for Multi-band OFDM UWB-based applications, including a new wireless version of the Universal Serial Bus (USB).

"Ultrawideband solutions, especially wireless USB, will become a mainstream solution in portable devices such as MP3 players, personal video players and digital cameras beginning next year," said Broockman. "For attendees trying to ascertain how wireless connectivity fits into next-generation home networking beyond WiFi, this should be an enlightening panel. "

The Connections(TM) Digital Home Conference and Showcase will take place on May 11-13, 2005 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport. Other scheduled panel members include representatives from Atheros Communications, Airgo Networks, Broadcom and IceFrye Semiconductor.
