IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation Hosts Introductory Meeting During ICCAD-2005; Presentations Will Describe Organization's Charter, Strategic Plan
Business Wire, Nov 1, 2005
NEW YORK -- The IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) will host a public introductory meeting during the International Conference on Computer Aided Design 2005 (ICCAD-2005) Tuesday, November 8, at 12:30 p.m. in the Siskiyou Ballroom at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose. Lunch will be served. All interested parties are welcome, though seating is limited.
The meeting is being underwritten by Cadence Design Systems, Magma Design Automation, Mentor Graphics Corp., Synopsys Inc. and the IEEE Design & Test Magazine.
CEDA's President Alfred E. Dunlop will chair the meeting and talk about its creation. Members of CEDA's executive committee will describe the council's activities and plans.
In addition to Dunlop, members of the Executive Committee include: President-Elect Giovanni (Nanni) De Micheli, director of the Integrated Systems Centre at EPF Lausanne in Switzerland; Vice President of Finance Wayne H. Wolf of Princeton University; Secretary John Darringer, manager of system-level design at IBM; Technical Activities Vice President Andreas Kuehlmann of Cadence Berkeley Labs; Vice President of Conferences Richard C. Smith an EDA consultant; and Vice President of Publications Rajesh K. Gupta of the University of California at San Diego.
Announced in April 2005, the council is the focal point for EDA-related activities within IEEE. CEDA's charter spans theory, implementation and use of computer aided design (CAD) tools to design integrated electronic circuits and systems. This includes tools that automate all levels of the design, analysis and verification of hardware and embedded software up to complete working systems. Five IEEE societies are part of CEDA: Antennas and Propagation Society; Circuits and Systems Society; Computer Society; Electron Devices Society; and Solid State Circuits Society.
