Colorado Technical University Receives Center of Excellence Award from the Information Systems Security Association

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Colorado Technical University recently became the first institution ever to be recognized by the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) as a Center of Excellence for information security education.

"We are honored that the ISSA has recognized Colorado Technical University as a leader in the information security industry," said Greg Mitchell, President of the Colorado Technical University, Colorado Springs campus. "Developing quality, industry relevant programs that will enable our students to succeed in their careers continues to be our primary focus." Colorado Technical University offers Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees in the information technology and security fields.

"We work with many educational institutions, but Colorado Technical University is receiving our first Center of Excellence award; they are clearly a leader and model in computer science and information security education," said Dave Cullinane, ISSA President.

Each year the ISSA, a not-for-profit, international organization of information security professionals and practitioners, recognizes those individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to ISSA and/or the information security profession. Last year Colorado Technical University received the award for Outstanding Organization of the Year by the ISSA. The ISSA has over 100 Chapters in 24 countries with the Colorado Springs chapter ranking as among ISSA's largest and most active.

Colorado Technical University will host its Sixth Annual Fall Information Security Conference on November 16, 2005. Presentations at the day long event will focus on the importance of information security and information assurance to everyday business success and survival.
