Amp'd Mobile Becomes Exclusive Wireless Partner for Break.com, Web's Most Popular Site for Viral Videos; Amp'd Members to Have Exclusive Access to Break.com User-Created Videos, Best Shots to Win Free Mobile Service
Business Wire, Nov 14, 2005
LOS ANGELES -- Amp'd Mobile, the first mobile entertainment company created to bring next-gen broadband wireless services for youth, today announced an exclusive content partnership with Break.com, formerly Big-Boys.com, to bring the web's best user-created videos to its members. With this deal, exclusive through mid next year, Amp'd will create a mobile channel to showcase Break's very popular original videos, updated daily, where members can view and share with friends. Plus, Amp'd members can submit their own videos and photos to Break.com, via the pre-installed link on all Amp'd phones, and members with entries selected for the Break site will have their mobile bill paid that month by Break.com and Amp'd.
Since its inception, Break.com has quickly become one of the most popular websites to find amazing video footage. By showing more than 100 million videos to 9 million unique visitors monthly, Break.com is the leader in creating and sharing viral trends and Internet celebrities.
Amp'd Mobile will also be a sponsor of Break's college contest, in which students post their original videos from campuses across the country. The best videos get posted to the Break.com site, with a $200 prize, and top 10 rated videos get an additional $500 each. The overall top rated video will receive a new digital camcorder as well - perfect to continue on the quest for the coolest videos on the web. Awards total up to $35,000 for original videos this quarter alone, plus the unique chance for instant viral video fame.
"Viral videos are a crucial piece of our content strategy and partnering with the leader in this space - Break.com - will ensure our members get the best experience right at launch," said Seth Cummings, senior vice president, wireless content and Internet services. "A big feature of Amp'd is offering things you won't find anyplace else while creating a community platform for members. With Break and Amp'd, people will be able to check out funny, shocking or ridiculous things like breaking underground videos, on-site user points of view from events like car chases, college and at home pranks and stunts, and people simply acting crazy. Plus, they can easily send them to friends through the handsets and submit them to win money and prizes."
"Amp'd not only appeals to our core demographic, they also share our vision of empowering users to create and be paid for great content," said Keith Richman, chief executive officer, Break.com. "We have had enormous success with homegrown videos on the Internet and Amp'd will allow people to film and share these slices of life even more easily through mobile handsets - anytime, anyplace. We look forward to introducing Break.com to even more people in the mobile community with Amp'd."
