GoComics and m-Qube Deliver Comics Daily to Verizon Wireless Mobile Web 2.0 Customers; Enables 'Whenever, Wherever' Access to Fans' Favorite Comics and Characters
Business Wire, Nov 15, 2005
BEDMINSTER, N.J., KANSAS CITY, Mo. & BOSTON -- GoComics, the mobile comics brand of uclick mobile, a best-of-breed wireless content provider, and m-Qube, a leading mobile channel enabler, have teamed up to bring daily comic strips to Verizon Wireless Mobile Web 2.0(SM) customers. By keeping fans in touch with their favorite comic titles on a daily basis, GoComics and m-Qube are making content readily accessible and available, wherever and whenever Verizon Wireless Mobile Web 2.0 customers want it.
"For years, getting a newspaper thrown on one's doorstep and reading one's favorite comic strips has been a way of American life. Given individuals' increasingly fast lifestyles, GoComics has been challenged to deliver entertainment through a broader range of media," said Chris Pizey, president and chief executive officer, uclick mobile. "By partnering with m-Qube and Verizon Wireless, we can now similarly 'throw' comics to wireless phones and preserve and build widespread fan loyalty for our most popular brands."
"As a result of its collaboration with m-Qube, GoComics can now offer a wider selection of individual comics, and make viewing them easier than ever before. The ultimate result is superior customer convenience -- a cornerstone of the Verizon Wireless Mobile Web experience," said Jeffrey Glass, president and CEO, m-Qube.
The GoComics content is available from Verizon Wireless on Mobile Web 2.0-capable handsets under the Fun subcategory of the Entertainment category on "VZW Today," the Mobile Web 2.0 home screen. Mobile Web 2.0 can be self provisioned, eliminating the need for customers to call customer service or visit a Verizon Wireless Communications Store to sign up for the service. Customers simply register for Mobile Web 2.0 on their Mobile Web 2.0-capable handset and get access to information and content right from their wireless handsets. Mobile Web 2.0 is available for a $5.00 monthly access, plus airtime. GoComics is a premium application and is available for an additional monthly fee of $1.99 added to the $5.00 Mobile Web 2.0 monthly access cost.
