DICOM Group plc: Kofax and Partner CSI Install Redaction System for Marion County Clerk of Courts
Business Wire, Nov 17, 2005
BASINGSTOKE, England -- Marion County First to Comply with State-Government Mandate to Remove (or Redact) Citizens' Personal Information from Public Records to Ensure Privacy
DICOM Group plc ("DICOM Group")(LSE:DCM), a global leader of Information Capture and Communications solutions, today announced the successful implementation of an automatic indexing and redaction solution by Kofax (a DICOM Group Company) and one of its Certified Solutions Providers, Computing Systems Innovations (CSI), with the Marion County Clerk of the Circuit Court located in the State of Florida in the United States.
Under Florida's current public records law, public citizens are responsible to request that private information be removed or redacted from public documents. However, beginning in the new year, the responsibility will shift to the clerk of court to ensure that social security, credit/debit card and bank account numbers are confidential under the State of Florida's open-record laws. To address this issue, Kofax and CSI offered Marion County a total business solution for automated redaction as well as automatic indexing of documents. Using advanced technology provided by Kofax and CSI, Marion County was able to process and redact private information from seven million pages of official records in just seven weeks.
The solution uses Kofax's Ascent(R) platform along with CSI's IntelliDact redaction software to provide imaging, processing, indexing and redacting as part of a scanning workflow without requiring additional software purchases or complex integration efforts. After a public record paper document is scanned and digitised using Ascent Capture, IntelliDact's unstructured data recognition technology indexes and redacts information. IntelliDact provides an additional benefit by improving workforce indexing efficiency and reducing error rates for forward filing.
Ascent Capture accelerates business processes by collecting paper documents, forms and e-documents; transforming them into accurate, retrievable information; and delivering the content into an organisation's business applications and databases.
According to Arnold von Bueren, Chief Executive Officer, DICOM Group, these information capture technologies ensure that organisations operate as efficient as possible, while also improving both the quality of the scanned images and the automated capture of information from paper documents and forms. "The result is lower scanning costs, lower data entry costs and faster access to information," said von Bueren. "The combination of the Kofax products and CSI's IntelliDact with advanced recognition and validation guarantees a very high level of recognition accuracy."
"Our partnership with Kofax enabled us to provide Marion County with a comprehensive solution that is used as part of a scanning workflow to rapidly and accurately accomplish an otherwise monumental task," said Henry Sal, president of CSI.
