Network Appliance Boosts Perimeter Security Defenses with New Web Gateway Appliance; NetApp® NetCache® C1300 Delivers on Uncompromised Security Vision
Business Wire, Nov 17, 2005
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTAP) today unveiled the NetApp NetCache C1300 system, the first enterprise Web security appliance delivering unmatched value for highly distributed environments and another component in the NetApp Uncompromised Security portfolio. Designed specifically for remote and branch offices to further enhance Internet access and security and accelerate access to Web content and applications, the NetCache C1300 delivers richer, more secure, industry-leading distributed data infrastructures for customers while significantly reducing costs.
The NetCache C1300 is designed to integrate Web security and content delivery technologies into a single, easy-to-manage platform. Acting as a critical security checkpoint at the Internet gateway, the NetCache C1300 appliance offers 1GB of RAM and scales up to three internal disk drives to help customers manage remote access to the Internet and boost perimeter security defenses within distributed environments, thus augmenting the NetApp Uncompromised Security approach unveiled earlier this month.
Designed to accommodate increasing demands for more secure Internet access across distributed enterprise environments, the NetCache C1300 offers unmatched price/performance. Compared to other Web gateway appliances, the NetCache C1300 offers three times faster URL/sec rate speed and can also service up to 50 percent more Internet users at remote locations. The C1300 also enables a wide array of critical gateway services such as access policy management, Spyware prevention, filtering, proxy, and caching, while simultaneously delivering identical services at branch offices.
"As our enterprise customers continue expanding their operations worldwide to remote offices, they need the same reliability, performance, and data security capabilities they've come to expect inside their data center," said Edward Sharp, general manager of the Content Delivery Business Unit at Network Appliance. "These capabilities are the foundation of the NetCache product line, central to our Uncompromised Security approach, and the reason why we developed the NetCache C1300 appliances to help users in remote offices better manage and access data in distributed environments with the best price performance."
NetApp is a leader in the secure content and application delivery industry (as defined by IDC) with solutions that improve business productivity and secure IT and information assets. Dedicated to simplicity and quality, NetCache systems help customers secure and accelerate their access to information and content, minimize risk, and lower costs. Deployed at the enterprise gateway, NetCache systems are gatekeeper appliances that help manage Internet and application access, improve Web performance and security, and eliminate network and server blockages. The addition of the NetCache C1300 to the NetCache family of existing C2300 and C3300 appliances is another example of the unique enterprise data management solutions that NetApp offers customers to provide continuous reliability, exceptional performance, and maximum security for their remote offices.
NetApp NetCache C1300 systems are available immediately. Pricing is available upon request from NetApp sales or NetApp distribution and channel partners.
