BSQUARE Contributes to Success of Juniper Systems' New Ultra-Rugged Archer Field PC™ on Windows® Mobile® 5.0; Provides System Level Software Including Sophisticated Power Management Design
Business Wire, Nov 17, 2005
BELLEVUE, Wash. -- BSQUARE (NASDAQ:BSQR), a leading provider of embedded software and services, today announced its contribution to the success of the new Juniper Systems Ultra-Rugged Archer Field PC(TM). BSQUARE developed and tested the Microsoft(R) Windows Mobile 5.0 system level software, also known as a board support package (BSP), for this new Intel(R) PXA270-based mobile device. This design win illustrates BSQUARE's position as a trusted partner to OEMs who need to get sophisticated devices to market quickly with reliable software.
BSQUARE's expertise in Windows Mobile 5.0 power management design enables Juniper Systems' customers to operate the ultra-rugged Archer Field PC(TM) for long days out in the field on a single battery charge and to recharge in typically four hours or less. The extended battery life and recharging time are key competitive differentiators for this handheld field computer targeted at markets such as natural resources, agriculture, and land surveying. The Windows Mobile 5.0 BSP designed by BSQUARE also supports Secure Digital Input Output (SDIO), Compact Flash (CF) and USB host expansion options to enable GPS, bar code scanning, or use of a camera and wireless connectivity via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or cellular modems.
"We chose to work with BSQUARE because we were impressed by their depth of knowledge of the Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system, Intel(R) PXA270 architecture and complex power management designs," said Gary Spence, Chief Technology Officer, Juniper Systems. "A key differentiator of BSQUARE as a software provider is their strong project management capabilities which enabled us to meet our aggressive time to market goals."
"This design win speaks to BSQUARE's industry leadership in system level software design, development and testing," said Carey Butler, Vice President of Professional Engineering Services. "Our combination of experienced Windows Mobile 5.0 and seasoned quality assurance engineers with proprietary solutions for power management and audio subsystems ensures the success of OEMs who want to maximize device quality and minimize development risk."
