Owera and D-Link Form Partnership to Enhance Manageability of IP Access Devices; D-Link to Integrate Owera's Market-Leading xAPS Provisioning System into Broadband Home Routers and Integrated Access Devices
Business Wire, Nov 17, 2005
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. -- Owera Inc., an innovative IP telephony software development company, today announced that it has entered into a Software Licensing Agreement (SLA) focused on mutual research to enhance the management of remote IP access devices with D-Link, the global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of networking and communications technologies. The initial development focus, which is now underway at D-Link's Taiwan facilities, will include integrating Owera's highly innovative xAPS system into D-Link Broadband Home Routers and Integrated Access Devices (IAD's). These devices are currently in use by many U.S.-based service providers as part of a managed home solution used to deliver a robust suite of voice, video and data services to consumers over their existing network connections.
"The Owera xAPS system is an impressive, full management solution for broadband home routers and integrated access devices," said John DiFrenna, vice president of channel sales for D-Link. "By combining xAPS functionality with our routers and IADs, we deliver a major advantage to our customers as it allows them to deploy solutions specific to their needs, without bias to specific underlying DSL or cable infrastructures - a feature of particular importance to many national and regional providers."
Scalable to hundreds of millions of devices, the xAPS system enables ISPs to rapidly expand their service offering without comprising the quality or manageability of IP telephony and hosted voice services. With xAPS, service providers are free from concerns about future TR-069 decisions driven by the larger incumbent network operators because the platform provides the requisite integration requirements for cable and DSL networks alike via software module. Updates provided by xAPS are transparent to the end user with no service interruption and are virtually hands-free for the ISP as well.
"We are pleased to be partnering with an industry leader such as D-Link to offer a clear competitive advantage to our joint customers," said Morgan Woodruff, US Director for Owera. "This powerful combination of complimentary software and hardware delivers a faster return on capital investment and a higher return on service management and customer satisfaction to our respective customer bases."
