Gehl Company Donates Excavator to MSOE for Future Research

Business Wire, Nov 18, 2005

WEST BEND, Wis. -- Gehl Company, a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of compact construction and agricultural equipment, donated a Gehl model 503Z compact excavator to the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) to be used by faculty and students for future research.

"The excavator will be used as part of mechanical engineering senior projects. The goal is to look at the current equipment and think about what could be done to improve it, such as added efficiency or operating autonomously," said Tom Labus, mechanical engineering professor. "It benefits MSOE students who get to work with real equipment and Gehl as well, since they get extra minds looking at their equipment."

The excavator is a new model zero-tail swing, 5-metric ton machine with industry leading hydraulics, serviceability and operator comfort that will be used by the college for research in the areas of energy efficiency, disturbed power control and autonomous operation. It will also be used as a test platform for the proposed ERC in compact and efficient fluid power funded by the National Science Foundation in which MSOE is a support institute.

Gehl Company (NASDAQ:GEHL) - Founded in 1859, the company is headquartered in West Bend, Wis. For more information, visit www.gehl.com.
