NetEx HyperIP DRO was a key component in a 60 terabyte e-mail migration project in which EarthLink, one of the world's largest ISPs, moved 9 million mailbox email archives from its Pasadena, Calif. data center to one located in Atlanta, Ga. This coast-to-coast data migration project utilized an IP/MPLS Internet backbone to sustain a transfer rate of over 1 TB per hour. The migration overcame two complex key factors, including a daily information change rate of up to 40 percent and the need to complete the move, re-synchronize the data and perform the cutover between data centers in a 6-hour window.
