BOSTON -- The Boston Globe Travel Show today announced its Tourism Industry Conference on March 24, 2006, with a keynote presentation by jetBlue Airways' CEO David Neeleman. This major tourism industry conference will take place at the Seaport World Trade Center, bringing together hundreds of leading professionals from around the world and among the New England region.
New England's leading travel professionals will have the opportunity to join their global peers for a day of networking and business-building opportunities, including educational and product seminars. Four separate 'tracks' will provide opportunities to learn additional skills and knowledge for Travel Suppliers (operators and lodging), Tourism Destinations, Travel Agents and Travel Writers. Presenting organizations include New England Inns and Resorts Association, The Travel Institute, Destination Marketing Association International and the Society of American Travel Writers.
The event is further enhanced by the keynote address of noted entrepreneur David Neeleman, who in only five years has developed jetBlue Airways into the number one ranked U.S. airline in quality and overall performance in the annual Airline Quality Rating. Mr. Neeleman's presence affirms the importance of Boston and the New England market for the tourism industry.
"Travelers and the travel industry will be able find what they want at the Boston Globe Travel Show, and will be surprised at the diversity of options and destinations," said David Neeleman, jetBlue airways CEO. "The best and the brightest in the travel and tourism industry are ready to gather in Boston for a few days to showcase their favorite products, services and destinations. It is a unique opportunity to connect with people from around the world -- or even with people around the corner."
After the Travel Industry Conference, attendees will be the first to walk the show floor with industry colleagues to explore the show's 300 exhibits. This unique opportunity allows professionals to expand their industry contacts, expertise and insight while learning more about the show's featured destinations, products and services.
An industry reception from 5 to 7 p.m. will serve as an invaluable networking opportunity for travel professionals to meet others from throughout the travel industry.
"We're so pleased to be a part of this landmark event to pull together regional, national and international tourism providers and destinations, and offer a unique experience to New England travelers," said Beth Steucek, Executive Vice President for New England Inns & Resorts Association.
The Boston Globe Travel Show will feature over 300 exhibitors representing destinations and tourism boards from Asia, the South Pacific, South and Central America, Europe, the Caribbean, Africa and North America, including a special pavilion spotlighting New England. Thematic pavilions also will showcase Luxury, Spa and Golf Travel, Cruises, Family Vacations and Active/Adventure trips.
