Anteon Leads Formation of Warfighter FOCUS Alliance
Business Wire, Nov 28, 2005
FAIRFAX, Va. -- Anteon (NYSE:ANT), Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT), Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC), and Saab (Stockholm:SAABB.ST) announced today a joint effort to provide a fully integrated capability tailored to address U.S. Army simulation and training requirements. The resulting entity, the Warfighter FOCUS (Field Operations CUstomer Support) Alliance, combines the complementary strengths of these companies - focused on leveraging all aspects of simulation and training in support of American soldiers worldwide.
"Over the past few years, the Army has found it difficult to manage separate support contracts for different simulation and training systems that complement each other," said Larry Retta, senior group vice president, simulation and training at Anteon. "In recognition of this fact, Anteon worked closely with Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Saab to assemble the Warfighter FOCUS Alliance." Anteon currently supports the Army's constructive training technology, and recently received contract awards worth up to $350 million from the U.S. Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) to design and install live training ranges and digital multipurpose battle area complexes.
The prime objective of Warfighter FOCUS Alliance (WFA) is to bring together four leading simulation and training system suppliers into one convenient and efficient contract vehicle for current and future U.S. Army simulation and training requirements. This new alliance offers the U.S. Army the availability of one entity with the capability to support all three simulation and training disciplines - live, virtual, and constructive. As the suppliers of most Army training systems, the members of the WFA - Anteon, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Saab - possess a detailed understanding of live, virtual, and constructive simulation and training support needs.
"By working together as a part of the Alliance, we will be able to provide an integrated team option that is more efficient by eliminating redundancies and allowing the leading providers of live, virtual, and constructive support to leverage cross-functional capabilities," continued Retta. "The operational efficiencies gained from the alliance will ensure that projects are completed at lower costs, and streamlined contract management will allow the Army to focus more contract dollars on "hands-on" work, and less on management."
