WMH Tool Group Replaces EDI Software with SPS' Hosted EDI Service; Growing Resource Demands of Internal EDI Solution Leads Tool Manufacturer to Outsource its EDI Operations to SPS Commerce
Business Wire, Nov 28, 2005
MINNEAPOLIS -- SPS Commerce, the leader in hosted Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) software, announced today that WMH Tool Group, a subsidiary of Walter Meier Holding AG and a leading manufacturer of tools, woodworking and metal processing products, has selected SPS' software-as-a-service offering for its EDI needs, replacing its former EDI software solution. The hosted EDI service will be fully implemented by the end of November and integrated with WMH's SAP R/3 system. The hosted service will enable WMH Tool Group to continue to process electronically high volumes of transactions with more than 40 retail customers including Do It Best, Grainger, Home Depot, Lowes, Sears and Wal-Mart, without the costs and vulnerability of an internally-managed system.
"EDI is the lifeblood of WMH Tool Group," said Rich Dase, director of information technology at WMH Tool Group. "As with all IT departments, WMH faced the challenges of an internal system in constant need of maintenance and upgrades, and periodic infrastructure and staffing strains. We decided that WMH was too reliant on internal resources for such a critical application. By replacing our internal EDI software with SPS' hosted solution, WMH eliminated our dependency on internal resources and is leveraging the best EDI professionals and technology on the market. Our EDI couldn't be in better hands."
"We are pleased to have WMH Tool Group as a part of our EDI community," said Archie Black, president and CEO of SPS Commerce. "The EDI demands of retailers are becoming more and more complex, including multiple communication vehicles, like AS2, and an ever-growing list of transactions. Companies including WMH are finding SPS Commerce as a better alternative to doing EDI themselves. We can do EDI better and usually for less."
