PriceGrabber.com Reveals Blockbuster 2005 Online Holiday Growth Continues Strong On Cyber Monday; PriceGrabber.com Rings in the Holidays With 87 Percent Growth
Business Wire, Nov 29, 2005
LOS ANGELES -- PriceGrabber.com, a leading online comparison shopping service, unveiled Cyber Monday shopping data from its site that demonstrates the strong surge in online shopping, first reported on Black Friday, continued on Cyber Monday, as the site saw an 87% percent increase in the number of referrals sent to online merchants compared to last year's Cyber Monday.
The so-called Cyber Monday phenomenon once again played out as workers returned from the holiday weekend and took advantage of high-speed connections at the office to continue holiday shopping. PriceGrabber.com's statistics show that the peak hour of traffic was at 12:00 PM Pacific Standard Time, and was consistently busy throughout the typical work-day hours from Eastern through Pacific time zones.
According to Jupiter Research, forecasts predict that 2005 online holiday sales will reach $26 billion in the U.S., an 18 percent increase over last year. On Nov. 28, Cyber Monday, PriceGrabber sent over $200 million in sales leads to merchants with an average order referral of $386.
Peak Day For Online Traffic On PriceGrabber Still To Come
While Cyber Monday is the biggest traffic day yet this holiday season, based on previous year's performance, it is clear that the actual peak day for online shopping is still to come, with unique users and referrals for each of the first two Mondays in December likely to exceed the performance on Cyber Monday.
