Vanatec Releases O/R Mapping for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005; Object-Relational Mapping Tool Vanatec OpenAccess 4.0 Integrates with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and Supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005

Business Wire, Nov 7, 2005

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. & MUNICH, Germany -- Vanatec today announced immediate availability of its object-relational mapping tool Vanatec OpenAccess 4.0. The development of this new version has been focused upon tight integration and compatibility with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005. OpenAccess closes the conceptual gap between object-oriented software architecture and relational database systems such as SQL Server 2005. Using OpenAccess, .NET Framework-based developers can implement data access and data management with significantly less coding efforts. Strictly following object-oriented concepts, OpenAccess enables developers to focus on the business logic instead of time-consuming data access issues. Vanatec OpenAccess 4.0 is available as of today. A development license costs 900 US$ and includes the first year of updates and e-mail support.

"Reliable tools for easy and rapid development are key to high productivity. With its tight integration with Visual Studio 2005 and support for .NET Framework 2.0, Vanatec OpenAccess offers a time-saving O/R-Mapping tool," says John Montgomery, director in the .NET Developer Product Marketing Group at Microsoft Corp. "In addition, collaboration within the development teams is simplified by the central management of the mapping information reducing the data access code."

Integrated with Visual Studio 2005, OpenAccess 4.0 offers high-performance object-relational mapping, providing unique features such as:

--Reverse Mapping: A Reverse Mapping Wizard detects existing legacy data models and creates respective object models, which can be easily edited.

--Disconnected Data Support: Unique Object Container functionality enables platform independent and database independent transport of objects (data and methods). An Object Container separates objects from the database for transactions.

--Database Flexibility: Vanatec OpenAccess separates the storage details from the user's object model, so working with various database branches or database systems do not cause changes in the object model.

--Transparent Persistence: No restrictions on the object model and support for inheritance, interfaces and .NET Framework collections through consistent object orientation.
